WHAT BREED ARE WE OF ??

What Breed Are We Of??

Lets not take the name of it for I don’t want to be  held responsible for the contempt of reputation and goodwill of so called respectable institution. My best buddy happens to be under it’s allegiance rather wincingly and unwillingly . The institution that I am talking about is a respectable  educational  institution in the valley, in fact in whole Nepal. He was telling me  how his life has got tightened in the noose that he hardly could feel the breathe because of the daily neck tight schedule and let alone the What The Fuck Rules and Regulations of his college(OOps !! Sorry couldn’t get the right term than this).  Well I don’t mean I am the luckiest one to be of another planet. I am also of the same breed as of my friend but my case is more slackened at the present moment than his.

Hair cut should be at the tiniest shred level. If one inch more than it’s meant to be then you are confounded!! If you get one bit  second late by chance to enter into the premise then backtrack yourself to the home . Gate is closed.

Hey you no 1454 (come of it, they don’t even call students by their proper names) , come  here, I saw you speak with the girl after the college. Why speak to her?? Don’t you know you have to maintain the distance? You are indefinitely suspended for the misbehavior . ( don’t believe it?? at least I believe my friend ).  And out of all , the infamous  rhetoric  “ have you forgotten to take your meal this morning , if no then why book ?” ( if only the egghead teacher could know that book is not  digestible as food).Ok then stand up on the bench for whole period. ( And wait !! more to come ) And by the way if you continue this tomorrow you will be shown into the principal’s office. ( I sometime wonder why not  send him in gaol ?? after all he has committed a  great felony for repeated non-compliance of reverend teacher)

Well I don’t want to get nightmare listing all those shity don’t do this lists.  As far as I Know the only approved and decent and do this behavior is read, read, read or to be more precise rote, rote, rote until you become know all robot.  And if you ever get to see his books than you would definitely wonder how in the hell one could study so many books in a year. ( And the interesting thing is , at the end of the day, everyone resort to slimy and sleeky , easy to read guidebooks , then why so much fuss??) No wonder, they would make great collection in your home archives in spite of their not so much usefulness.

Now lets come to a real hard surface. Everyone is saying that our education system needs to be overhauled. We are getting back trapped by our conventional ways of teaching and evaluation. But why would any politician care in such petty business as education cause most of them  could even hardly know to sign. Our education system focuses on volume and quantity. More books, more knowledge.  They don’t even know how much is good for average child of 7 or 8 years. They put everyone in the same basket and make it steadfast  standard that gets increasingly harder and harder in the revaluation of upcoming year. I now remember of those awful years in school  where everyday I had to mule myself the weight of the book that would make me stoop  and open your books and get on with the schedules.  Most of the teachers remained strange to me as they would only bother to finish their lessons on the given time and would not care to ask “ how are you , my boy?”  (with some few exceptions) As for me I don’t have much begrudge to my school life cause I got insight of  many things  such as in friendship, competition and fortunately my interest and potentiality  rather than in the  core course.  We were actively encouraged to take part in the sports but as we climbed the ladder of classes sports gradually became to be a rare time activity and why would anyone even care to take part in debates, essay competition, elocution and quiz if they were only meant to be for some selected and top seed ones?

If someone points out what about moral education then I think I would be right to say that whoever raises such thing is living in the past. Common on , we are living in the 21st century  where each has to be as mean and clever as fox for the survival then what good would moral education do?? Nothing but false hopes and misery in later life. And that’s what we are being taught in schools and colleges. Be in your might then everything is right, otherwise get doomed. We are taught that if something bad happens to other fellow, then don’t go for the rescue, just be indifferent and save your neck. Simple as that , isn’t it?? We are being only taught how to make a living and as for how to make a life that’s fiddlers fart.

So much so that sometimes I wonder how the students of my friend’s college  get such a great result without even or harldly one or two students failing .But provided that with such rigorous setting , it might be true that anyone could grab the good  marks. But what about total personality of an individual? Is the study only all pervading aspect of life? What about personal desires, interests, sociability, creativity and other aspects ? And anyone would be ridiculed to believe that from the current trendz and educational setting of our country our educational institutions could produce competitive workforce in the global market.  Has anyone who is in the top level thought of making education  interesting rather than mandatory?

The bitter irony is we are not aware of our purpose of our study. I asked my friend what field had he decided to take in future? But he seemed to be dumb founded and confused. Actually he had no idea. I bitterly felt pity for him . It’s not necessary to be sure of one’s  future course cause nobody knows what might happen in future. But to have no idea of what might one become studying the particular subject is pathetic. As for the career we all know there are only two good prospective options , either to be a doctor or if not ,be consoled with being an engineer ( forgot to mention pilot and chartered accountant).  Much to be blamed for our parent’s stereotype and our inability to take one absolute stance.  We are all edged from every side and squeezed within ourselves so much that sometimes I feel so tired and want to resign from all this hullabaloo. I don’t know much but if the same goes on and the our environment doesn’t give any sign of retirement then we are sure to be evolved to be bunch of idiots who take very linear approach to  life and with our degrees in hand become the slave and servant of fate rather than becoming master of it.

This song didn’t become world hit just like that…

( I have long been thinking that it would be a good idea to give every teacher a  DVD of the film called “Freedom Writers” which is based on  a true story ,as a present in Guru Purnima ,“teacher’s day”. Then they would get better insight of what teachers should mean to students.)

RAW, SAVAGE AND FRESH : “LOOT” LOOTS THE IMAGINATION AND EXPECTATION OF AUDIENCES

RAW, SAVAGE AND FRESH : “LOOT ” LOOTS THE IMAGINATION AND EXPECTATION  OF  AUDIENCES

When the trailer of  “loot” was released everyone’s  expectation gave a jump up and anticipated that the movie would be great.  Everyone’s response on the trailer of the movie was unanimous. But  things don’t go well  as per your anticipation and this is mostly the case. But when everyone was out of the hall,  faces beamed with the surprise and astonishment  ( probably thinking “ was it the nepali movie that I was watching?” ). They would recollect the movie in their minds and coming back to their sense would simply say “ great” aloud to themselves.

The dawn breaking movie in kollywood,  “loot” gives you more than you had expected to get from the film. That’s the reason why everyone would be seen in jaw dropping expression after watching the movie as if it was hard to believe what they had watched was genuinely a “nepali movie”.

“ Loot is the story of  five guys who find quick ways of success and accomplishment in life. It is a quest for quick money and better life. In a place where the crime rates are ascending day by day, Loot draws a reality check on the present security system of the city. Loot is about relationships: it’s about friendship and betrayal. Loot is the real picture of Kathmandu; the city of crime and lawlessness like never explored before.”  as said by the  “loot” team in their own words.

The film stars fresh faces and characters such as Karma, Saugat Malla, Reecha Sharma, Daya Hang Rai, Sushil Raj Pandey and Prateek Raj Neupane.  They are prime in their acting and roles and they are entitled to get loud applaud. The amazing aspect of the movie is the story itself and how the story takes a toll of thrill in the audiences minds.  The movie is raw and savage. There are no good sides and bad sides as would be depicted in other kollywood films.  It’s  factual and related to the down to earth happenings of Kathmandu city.  It can’t be wrong to say that it is the ground breaking movie in kollywood as it takes the story from different new height to present it in  a way that would leave the  deep unfading impression in the mind of audiences.  Thus, cinematography and screenplay of the film are raw , savage and fresh. They are as natural as could happen in reality.

The story is robust and presented in a way that definitely deserves the commendation for  new and young director, Nischal Basnet’s  experiment in the film.  The alleys of  Asan and the vicinity of durbar squares in the film present Kathmandu in it’s own unique and revealing attire. It depicts how and why the persons of various backgrounds adopt criminal means for quick gain compellingly. The film is about a conspiracy and plot to rob the bank by five local thugs.  But no one understands the conspiracy within the conspiracy until the last minute of the film.  The film completely captivates you for nearly 2 hours completely entertaining you with thick and rich humored dialogue with frequent slang and jargon terms, unfolding sequences, sudden twist and turn in the story. The deep resentment by the movie team for the action of censor board which certified the film as A or Adult content material can also be felt by audiences whenever those beep  beep  sounds in between the dialogue are met with the protesting moans and groans by the audiences.

The bold and raw item is out in the Kollywood  already making the record high unprecedented likes and appreciation even from those groups who strongly detest Nepali movies . So to those who want real movie experience, may be you should put off your plan for Don 2 or Happy Feet 2 for a while and get the  ticket of “loot” to loot your imagination and anticipation. And it’s for sure you will never be disappointed.

My verdict : 4/5

A WAY TO HAPPINESS

A WAY TO HAPPINESS

What is the thing that any man desires the most in the world? Some might say wealth or fortune, others might point out to love, family, achievement, success etc etc. But whatever one might say , the ultimate hunt of the mankind is the happiness. Only the en route to it takes a different paths in the form of wealth, family, love, religion etc. How would you define happiness then? People stumble upon this quiet a lot of times in their lives but rarely they can hold the firm view of what happiness is. So it’s very abstract term to define properly and objectively. But the psychologists have different view to share. They commonly agree that the significant indicators of the happiness are the meaningful social relationship and positive attitude. But is it invariably the truth? Or does happiness only mean to be happy  all the time?

But it’s not so plain as it seems cause happiness can never be one absolute state. We can also say that for the things we tag happiness might not be the same thing for other people. So, it is futile to impose the general definition of happiness as it is purely a subjective term. Wife asks for expensive diamond necklace but husband finds it rubbish and would rather like to make saving; a boy fancies a girl but the girl has other boy in her mind; I like blue color, he likes orange and she hates the both color; English football fans become jubilant with excessive happiness when they thrash the opponent team but at the same time the fans of the other end might be needed to rush to hospital for heart-attack. These are some instances of the deep wrenches created by happiness. Happiness is supposed to keep all the persons in the same even grounds. But on the contrary it seems, the exclusive terms of “happiness” applied to different persons have created the division among people. It is everyone’s right to be happy. But on the process of obtaining happiness we come across others happiness and we might not feel happy in others happiness.

We are always told to be happy by our “well wishers”. In birthday wishes, new year and anniversary messages , we give and receive the wishes that conclusively tell a person “to be happy”. But how on some ethical grounds can it be efficacious? When your loved one dies or see someone suffering, should you feel happiness? When your best friend fails the exam and on the other hand you happen to top the exam , do you think it would be the best to celebrate your success or share your friend’s grieve? Those are the moral quandaries on which you have to decide to whether to be happy or sad. Humans are not the stock of one ever flowing emotion. In fact it is very essential for humans to feel the all sorts of emotions of blues , despair, cheerfulness, apathy, rage , love etc for the survival.

Happiness is misjudged of being only happy. There’s a very well known theory of perception in psychology propounded by Gestalt psychologists which state “ objects are not perceived as a sum of distinct parts but rather perceived as a pattern or whole or configuration.” This same theory can be applied in ascertaining happiness. View your life as single piece of cake and retrospection of your life surely finds you in the pronounced state of happiness and sadness at some point of your past. Now if we ascertain happiness only counting the happy moments in our life then our footing on the matter is amiss. Every events in life are related and have cause and effect relationship. The unhappy moment at some point of time might later prove to become the source of profound happiness or in the same respect, the momentary happiness produced by some event might be short lived and be a lingering dread in later life. So happiness is not only the sweet part of the cake. All the events and experiences in a life count to ascertain happiness.

Nowadays it’s like hunting a dodo to find people happy. Family problems, inflation, poverty, rejection in love, disparity, hopelessness, tragedy, war etc are filling misery and wretchedness in people’s lives. But this does not rule out the occasional happiness of ceremony, friendship, success, love etc. The only problem is everything is short lived. And we must take on the battle of misery and woes to drag ourselves. For this reason we can confidently say that happiness is not all pervading and definite. This must be the reason why our forefathers had wisely and rightfully coined the term “pursuit of happiness” and emphasized on it rather than on happiness itself otherwise we would not have seen much of progress in human civilization. Happiness is the fulfillment stage and as per the fact humans rarely get fulfilled. Besides happiness does not endure for a long period of time and one might not feel happy being  always happy. Happiness is not like finding something in the maze or worrying about to become happy. This simply means you are not happy and you are desperate to find the happiness as if it is like craving a play station by a 10 year old boy. So it was wise of our forefathers to pass us with the wisdom that never says to stop but carry on and pursue what you need and have to do until the end. And that pursuit is the pursuit of happiness. In that pursuit we find satisfaction, solace and peace in the end no matter how gruesome the events turn out to be and we imagine ourselves to be happy. And quite frankly it must be the happiness to pursue the happiness.

( To make certain things clear, i am not a happiness guru . These are my own subjective approach to the topic. It’s only my self held belief.  It depends upon readers to take this matter upon their own accord and perspectives which will be respected . In fact at this present moment i am lost in the dreary on my pursuit to happiness…)
